The story behind the story

A young girl spends part of each year with her alternative Colorado carpenter father, and the remainder in New York, with her chic businesswoman mom. I wrote this story about how she navigates the puzzle of these two very different parents and their lives, yet feels her way into their love following a conversation with a niece who was grappling with a similar conundrum. This won a Parent’s Choice Award, & Social Sciences Book of the Year.
