The Storm Book

WHAT: a read-aloud of THE STORM BOOK, by Charlotte Zolotow, illustrated by Margaret Bloy Graham. Graham’s tender, loose watercolor illustrations made this a 1953 Caldecott Honor Book.

Read aloud by the author’s daughter, Crescent Dragonwagon, in the garden of the Dragonwagon-Graff’s Fayetteville, Arkansas home, this story — about a little boy and his anticipation and experience of a big thunderstorm rolling in and out again — was  filmed by Sweetie Berry.

What: THE MAN WITH THE PURPLE EYES (Part one), by Charlotte Zolotow, illustrated by Joe Lasker (Abelard-Schuman, 1961).

Part one (of five), read aloud by the author’s daughter, Crescent Dragonwagon, with “text support” by Mark Graff
